World Premiere of Steve Reich's "Daniel Variations" in London

The fifth annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days will feature the premiere of Steve Reich's "Daniel Variations" on October 8 at the Barbican Centre in London. "Daniel Variations" is a 30-minute choral work based on texts from the Book of Daniel alongside Danny's own words; it was commissioned for the Daniel Pearl Foundation by Richard Goodman through Meet the Composer as a tribute to Danny. A group of 20 musicians from the Steve Reich Ensemble and Synergy Vocals will perform the piece. Other performances of this work dedicated to World Music Days will take place in New York, Portugal, and France. The West Coast Premiere of "Daniel Variations" will be presented in January of 2007 by the Los Angeles Master Chorale at Disney Hall.

World Premiere of Avner Dorman Violin Concerto in Jerusalem
The world premiere of Avner Dorman's Violin Concerto will be performed on October 18 and 19 by the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Gisele Ben-Dor) and Ittai Shapira, soloist. Avner Dorman is one of Israel's most widely performed living composers. He dedicated this concerto to Danny.
