The Daniel Pearl Memorial
New York City

Date: Sunday, February 23, 2003
Time: 7:00pm
Location: Congregation B’nai Jeshurun
257 West 88th Street
New York City

It has been a year since Wall Street Journal reporter, Daniel Pearl, was brutally murdered for doing his job, and for being an American and a Jew.

The motives for his execution somehow went silent amidst the competing news coverage of the day, and yet his death was tragically symbolic of the new realities of the world in which we live.

Join us as Congregation B’nai Jeshurun hosts and conducts a one-year anniversary Yahrzeit service commemorating Daniel Pearl's murder in an interfaith evening of memory, music and mourning.

The program will begin with an interfaith service lead by Rabbis J. Rolando Matalon, Marcelo R. Bronstein and Felicia L. Sol. Reverend K Karpen, Imam Talib 'Abdur-Rashid and Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf

Among others joining us will be:

Judea Pearl, Daniel Pearl’s father
Larry Ingrassia, Money and Investing Editor, Wall Street Journal
Thane Rosenbaum, Novelist and Essayist
Samuel G. Freedman, Author and Professor of Journalism at Columbia University
Alicia Svigals, world-renowned Klezmer Violinist
Gil Morgenstern, Concert Violinist
